EL-RUFAI VISITED GBAGYI VILLA AND VOWED TO DEMOLISH GBAGYI VILLA DESPITE THAT THE MATTER IS BEFORE A COURT OF COMPETENT JURISDICTION: ARISE NEWS CAPTURES EL-RUFAI’S STATEMENT AND DETAILS OF THE VISIT:

The people of Gbagyi Villa suddenly woke up on Thursday, 21st July 2016 to hear the news that Governor Nasir El-Rufai was coming on a visit by 1.00pm the same day. According to a source in Gbagyi Villa, “No body knows the purpose of his sudden visit.” From about 9.46am heavy security had been mounted all over Gbagyi Villa, but El-Rufai never came till about 3.05pm. He came in through unusual entrance where he briefly stopped to address journalists.

Despite coming with about 5 different black jeeps and other vehicles in his heavy convoy, he was in a tinted-glass coaster bus that no one would ever suspect he would have boarded. He spent about 1 hours going round the Kaduna Polytechnic edge of Gbagyi Villa in company of members of Kaduna Polytechnic management, top government functionaries and top officers of KASUPDA
The governor, who didn’t address the people of the community, neither was he having any representative of the community in his entourage however, addressed journalists after the tour that lasted till about 4.07pm.

EL-RUFAI’S ADDRESS
In his address to the journalist he said, the residents of Gbagyi Villa’s encroachment on the land belonging to KADPOLY is a tragedy in many ways, because on the one hand Kaduna Polytechnic got allocated the place nearly 40 years ago for the purpose of establishing initially a school of mining and subsequently a college of environmental studies, which would have brought great benefit not only to the Gbagyi community, but also Kaduna State and country as well.

Unfortunately, as we stand today, according to KADPOLY Rector and I believe him, nearly 70% of the Land has been encroached by illegal squatters. These buildings will have to go. The state government went through a process, gave everyone opportunity to show that he or she has a title to the land and approval to build, If you don’t have these two, the law will apply and we would take the buildings down.

He maintained that, “It is unfortunate that some people have been deceived to think that this land is available for sale, and we are going to investigate and find out all those involved in this deception and they would be dealt with by the government. The law will prevail and ignorance of law is no defense.”

MANY TO LOSE THOUSANDS AND MILLIONS OF NAIRA OF THEIR SAVINGS
“It is quite unfortunate to see that many people will lose thousands and millions of naira of their savings for building illegally. Before you build anything, make sure you have Certificate of Occupancy for the land or building and get approval, if you don’t have it, your building is at risk. I don’t know any other thing than to uphold my oath of office and to ensure that the law is obeyed. We did not conduct illegality in this case and in Kaduna State, you cannot hide behind your religious or ethnic group to break the law and get away with it.” He asserted.

DESPITE THE CASE IN COURT
When asked about the on-going case in court over the Gbagyi Villa planned demolition issue he responded, ”The case in court has little to do with breaking the law, if you break the law you can’t go to court. This is a criminal act and the case in court is a civil matter. You cannot steal and go to court to stop prosecution. These are two separate matters; the law must be applied for all of us to be saved.”

NO COMPENSATION FOR GBAGYI VILLA RESIDENTS AS CRIMINALS
On whether the people will be compensated, he declared that the people are criminals, asking if criminals should be compensated for their crime. He however, lamented that “there are about 1,500 houses with only about 500 completed and the people will lose thousands and millions of naira of their savings for building illegally.” He concluded.

One thought on “El-Rufai Vowed To Demolish Gbagyi Villa: Details Of His Speech And Visit

  1. Hum! Funny!! See kettle calling pot BLACK. How do you call a man who CRIMINALS voted him inn to become a governor? A man who encourage his fellow man to execute crime, is also guity of the same crime. One can actually use his tongue to count his teeth.
A man who is not a respecter of the judiciary has eventually equates himself with God. A man who said he will never see rest unless he renders multitude of people homeless, HAS JUST DUG HIS GRAVE BY THAT SIMILAR UTTERUTTERANCE.
Pride goes before a fall. Leadership is by example. If everyone chooses not to respect the judiciary, am very sure he will not be on that sit as a governor. The appellation “Excellency” is meant to be used for people who does excellent things and whose ways of life are excellent.
It is only a fool that follows the footsteps of a lion to the jungle, because when the lion turns back and see the fool, the fool becomes the lion’s meal.
