A former Labour Party presidential aspirant, Faduri Oluwadare Joseph popularly called Fadojoe, has dumped the party as he officially unveils that he will run for the 2027 presidential election under the platform of National Rescue Movement (NRM).
In a public World Press Conference this weekend the US based Nigerian declares both to Nigerians at home and in diaspora that, as “a true Nigerian, with patriotism in my heart and love for country as my guiding light. Today, with humility, faith, and an unshakeable belief in Nigeria, I formally declare my intention to run for the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the 2027 presidential election.”
Adding that he “arrived at this decision after deep reflection, prayers, and wide consultations. I am joining this race because Nigeria needs a rescue at this critical moment in her existence.”
Citing the myriad of problems bedeviling the country as poverty, insecurity in Nigeria worse than in many nations officially at war, lose of value and credibility, moral decadence, corruption etc, he alludes to “the founders of our great nation —Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and other visionary leaders—fought for independence, they fought for a Republic: a true republic, if we could keep it.
“A republic where government would be kind to its people; where life would be dignified; where food would be affordable and available; where citizens would love one another; where love of country would supersede love of self.
“They envisioned a nation where leaders would create an enabling environment for prosperity through the responsible use of our vast natural and human resources; where citizens would collaborate with government to build a society all could be proud of; where morals, decency, and the fear of God would dwell in the hearts of the people; and where every Nigerian would feel safe in their own land.
“My fellow Nigerians, you will agree with me that what we have today falls far short of what a true republic should be.
“If we fail to act now, we risk becoming a second generation of freed slaves—wandering foreign lands with no nation to proudly call our own.
“This is why I offer myself to lead this rescue mission. This is why I will be running for President in 2027.”
Ruminating on his political antecedence he stressed how in Labour Party he had to step down for Mr. Peter Obi to emerge as Presidential candidate. But today the Labour Party platform has been highjacked and Peter Obi has joined what he referred to in 2023 as “the structure of criminality
“When in 2023, I made the personal sacrifice to step down in support of Mr. Peter Obi under the Labour Party, in the interest of national unity and progress. Today, that platform has been hijacked by entrenched interests.”
In the light of the above, he has to launch under another political being, National Rescue Movement (NRM).
“Therefore, in 2027, I will launch my presidential bid on the platform that truly represents the people—the National Rescue Movement (NRM), proudly symbolized by the honeybee.
“The honeybee represents industry, unity, and shared prosperity. It is time to return Nigeria to her honey days—and make her greater still. It is time for the Giant of Africa to reclaim her rightful place among the great nations of the world.
“Our slogan is simple and clear: ‘People First; Nation First.’
“Our government will be People First; Nation First
“Nigeria is a nation that has everything, yet lacks everything—and it is time to change that story.
“This movement will be a government of the people. We will bring together the best of Nigeria abroad with the best at home to build a New Nigeria—stronger, fairer, and more just. Just as the new Jerusalem was greater than the old, we will build a new Nigeria—one we can truly call a republic we can keep.
“Yes, we can.
“Yes, we will.” he concluded.
