The news reaching the Newsroom of Arise News has it that some group of fanatic Muslim youths attacked the worshipers of St. Philip’s Catholic Parish, Baki Iku, Niger State. It is located very close to Zuma Rock, so some people may mistakenly refer to the place as Abuja (due to the proximity).
Arise News gathered that some Parishioners went to the church to pray yesterday, Friday 15th July 2016 and those fanatic Muslims were reported to have been aggrieved claiming that Christians only have right of worship on Sunday, that Friday is should be strictly left for the Muslims as their day of prayer and they attacked the church.
A member of the church living not too far from the church, who simply identified himself as Anthony told Arise News correspondent that some members of the church had gone to pray in the church when the irate youths “fanatically attacked those who were praying, and destroyed most of the church properties including part of the building like the doors and the windows.” He added that they destroyed the altar, chairs, church gadgets and other valuables.
When asked if he was part of those attacked, he said he didn’t go for the prayer, but was attracted by the “commotion that resulted from the attack. As the members who were taken “unaware were scampering for safety. I was thinking it was another major religious crises like those we use to hear of in Kaduna, Kano and other states. I had to stand back and study the situation before moving close when Some soldiers got to the scene.”

Another eyewitness, Miss Mary David, that spoke to Arise News correspondent lamented that ‘Finally what Pastor Bosun Emmanuel warned Nigerians of is now happening live before us. Nigeria has been hijacked by the Islamic Fundamentalist and what can we do?”
She explained that the Muslims just closed from their 2 o’clock prayer and descended on the church massively. “Over 80 of them climbed the wall of the church fence into the church premises.” Explaining that they first beat the security man to a state of coma. And who couldn’t escape on time were also given the beaten of their lives.

She continued as her voice was shaking, “Then they destroyed almost all the church public address system and musical instruments, doors, windows and many thing.” She raised her hands and said, “Oh God, is this how you will be watching Nigeria? Oh! when we have a so-called senior pastor of one of the largest churches in Nigeria as the number two man in our country…” The uncontrollable tears streaming down her face did not allow her to continue…
