Dear economists and pseudo economists,
Always bear in mind that economic theories are useless when people are dying of hunger the same way legal principles are useless without justice. You cannot use academic theories to pacify an hungry man. The economy affects everyone, both the literate and the illiterate.
It is not about the academic theories, what is important to the man on the street is the cost of living. We did not elect this government for them to come and teach us economics. We did not vote for President Buhari to come and give us endless excuses, we voted for him to proffer solutions.
Stop telling me that I am not an economist and should not be commenting on the state of the economy. It is insulting to tell someone that is alive and going through hardship that he has no right to complain about his economic situation because he is not an economist.
Does one need to be a lawyer to know when substantial justice has been done in a given case? Lawyers can argue legal principles till eternity, but what the society is interested in is justice.
Also, it is not the duty of the citizen to advise the government on how to revamp the economy and fashion policies. Stop telling me that I should not only complain. The moment we decided that we cannot lead ourselves and elected few people to lead us, the responsibility for managing the affairs of the country shifted to the leaders. That is what is called the Social Contract.
If this government does not have the solutions to the current economic hardship and recession they should publicly admit it and do the needful.
