EL-RUFAI AND HIS CONVOY STONED IN KAFANCHAN, KADUNA AND SOME OF HIS CARS DESTROYED.

Arise News247 authoritatively gathered that Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and his entourage were pelted with stones and some of the vehicles broken in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government on Tuesday 20^th December, 2016 after addressing some demonstrators immediately after he chaired Kaduna State Security Council meeting in the area.

According to Arise News247 findings, the official residence of the Local Government Chairman, Dr. Bege Katuka was also burnt.

The protesting youths were expressing their displeasure against the attitude of the governor over the way he is handling Fulani Herdsmen killing of Southern Kaduna people and the killing of youths by soldiers.

An eyewitness who spoke to Arise News247 correspondents said that there was an earlier protest, which “resulted in burning of some churches and one mosque, and looting of some shops belonging to Igbo traders at the Kafanchan main market.” As a result of that the governor had imposed a 24-hour curfew on the southern Kaduna before his visit. However, when the news of his visit broke out hundreds of angry women defied the curfew and protested half-naked (bare-breasted) crying against the killing of their people by Fulani Herdsmen as well as some youths by soldiers.

Arise News247 source further explained that rather than sympathizing with the bare-breasted women peaceful protesters in their ordeals, El-Rufai “addressed the women in an unmanageable manner. Thus, the women were the more provoked and they rained curses at the governor.”

In the light of the above, “angry youths also defied the curfew and storm out throwing stones at the governor and his convoy as he drove away from the place.” Our source added.

While escaping, the governor’s convoy was reported to have been attacked at Kagoro-Manchok, and the convoy had to make a turn to the palace of the village chief.

It is of note that this is the third (3^rd) attack on El-Rufai in less than two years in office. The first attack was in December 2015 when angry youths stoned his SUV in Zaria. Later in April, 2016 in Unguwar Yero area of Kaduna North Local Government the governor was again attacked after the inter-communal clash that left not fewer than six people dead.
