Barely 24 hours after the Nigerian military engaged Boko Haram is war of words over the claim of taking over Sambisa Forest, Arise News247 gathered that Boko Haram has responded with action by launching a surprise attack on Nigerian troops location in Rann, Borno State shooting sporadically.
The terrorist launched the surprise attack at about 6.00am, which resulted in fierce battle between them and Nigerian troops till about 9.04am.
According to Arise News247 sources, several terrorists were killed while some escaped with various degrees of gunshot wounds. The Nigerian troops of Operation Lafiya Dole also recorded their own causalities with many dead and some wounded.
Our sources also said that the authorities quickly contacted the nearby 22 Brigade to send air ambulance to evacuate the wounded soldiers.
It has become a norm that whenever Nigerian government claims victory over Boko Haram, the terrorists always respond by launching coordinated attacks.
The present duel was believed to have been triggered when Nigerian government claimed to have routed the dreaded terror group out of Sambisa Forest.
Shekau, responded by releasing a video calling President Buhari a liar and asserting that his group had not been defeated and that they are still in charge of the Sambisa Forest.
The Nigerian Army fired back claiming that the Shekau video was mere propaganda.
Boko Haram, in their characteristic way of debunking such claim; invaded military location, launching surprise attack that has left many causalities on both side.
