The news reaching the Newsroom of Arise News247 has it that shops in the Building Materials Market in Lugbe Abuja have been gutted by fire.
According to a reliable source, the fire started at about 2.26pm on Thursday, 9th February, 2017 in a foam shop in the popular market located on International Airport Road, Abuja. Our source who identified himself as Okechukwu recounted how the conflagration engulfed the market.
“One man just rented a new shop close to a foam shop and he brought a welder to fix somethings for him. Though we warned the welder not to work close to the foam, but he obstinately rejected our advice and see the result now.” Okechukwu lamented.
Men of the FCT fire service called upon to help were reported to have arrived the scene more than one hour after the fire started. And funny enough, they ran out of water and had to call for reinforcement, which also failed to show up early. Thus, their coming made little or no impact in salvaging the situation.
