Arise News247 gathered that Fulani beef sellers in Taraba embarked on strike since yesterday, 13th June, 2017 forcing prices of poultry, dog meat, fish and pork to soar.
The Fulani herdsmen demonstrated in Jalingo on Monday, 11th June, 2017 over the anti-open grazing bill, which they described as an affront on their rights; in front of the Taraba State House of Assembly Complex, openly displaying weapons. As a follow up, the Fulani beef sellers embarked on strike, which entered its third day today, forcing Taraba State residents to go for poultry, dog meat, fish and pork as alternative to beef thereby causing the prices to shoot up.
According to Arise News247 Taraba State correspondent, prices shoot up in less than 36 hours as high as between 100% and 200%; For instance fish or pork that normally go for N500 has gone as high as N1,000 while some sell as high as N3,000 for what normally sold for N1,000.
