All is obviously not well with the opposition PDP in Kogi State as few weeks to the November 16 Gubernatorial elections, its Campaign Council’s Chairman on Public Communications, Mr Majeed Dahiru has resigned
In a press release, the renowned columnist and public affairs commentator said he was “guided by the need to continue in my role as a public commentator and advocate of good governance in a manner that should remain multi-partisan.”
Continuing, the press statement personally signed by Mr Dahiru said “after due consultations with family, friends and associates, I have come to the decision to withdraw from the Kogi State PDP gubernatorial council. To this effect, I hereby relinguish my position as the Chairman of theCommunications Committee of the Kogi State PDP gubernatorial campaign council.
“In arriving at this decision, I was guided by the need to continue in my role as a public commentator and advocate of good governance.”
He thanked the Director General of the PDP campaign, Hon Tajudeen Yusuf for the opportunity he offered him (Dahiru) and further “express my profound gratitude to the DG of the Kogi State PDP gubernatorial campaign council, the Hon Tajudeen Yusuf for considering me worthy of his confidence and trust; indeed Kogi state is blessed to have one of the finest parliamentarians in the 4th republic.”
“I will conclude by expressing my unreserved well wishes to the PDP family in Kogi state as they go to the gubernatorial polls in November 2019”, he said
Senator Dino Melaye had earlier declined the offer for him to be the DG of the Campaign Council, tweeting his rejection from his verified handle. Also Alhaji Ibro in a press statement refused to serve in the Campaign Committee as Mr. David Alfred Dogwo, the Media Aide to former governor Idris Wada (brother to the PDP gubernatorial candidate) in an elaborate radio and television broadcast as well as press statement also turned down his appointment into the PDP Campaign Council, and further advised the party leadership to focus on their members that are still committed to the party rather than appointing into their Campaign Committee a person that has decamped to APC at the expense of their loyal members, and that the party leadership should learn to look onward. He also frowned at the attitude of the social media people of the party that took to social media to launch attack on him because he left the party only for the party leadership to later include his name in their Campaign Committee.
