Precious Chikwendu, the estranged wife of former Minister of Aviation Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, risks 10 years in jail over a case of defamation, incitement, injurious falsehood and cybercrimes.
About two months ago criminal charges were filed by the Nigerian Police against her at the Abuja Federal High Court on defamation, incitement, injurious falsehood and cybercrimes; as a result of the accusation she leveled against Senator Grace Bent, through her verified Facebook and Instagram.
Precious had posted some accusations against Senator Grace Bent among which she said the Senator was conspiring with others to murder. And she has made a confessional statement to the police that she truly leveled the allegations against her.
However, she couldn’t prove her damaging allegations against the Senator, neither has she been able to substantiate them; during police investigation before the case was eventually charged to court.
Hence, the case was scheduled for arraignment before Justice Obiora Egwuatu on Monday January 24, 2022 at Court 9, Federal High Court Abuja. But Precious Chikwendu did not turn up neither was she represented by any lawyer. And no document was filed to explain why they were not present in court.
The case couldn’t start but was adjourned till March 10th 2022 for arraignment by Justice Obiora Egwuatu.
Considering the charges against her, if found guilty she risked been sentenced a term of 10 years imprisonment.
