Eid-el Fitr Public Holiday Extended Till Thursday July 7th, 2016.
The Federal Government has extended the public holidays for the Eid-el-fitr celebration to Thursday July 7th July, 2016.
Arise News confirmed this new development from the statement issued today 5th July, 2016 from the office of the Minister of Interior, Malam Abdulrahman Dambazau, signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Bassey Okon Akpanyung
The statement blamed the extension on the inability to sight the new moon, resulting in the decision of the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, to extend the Ramadan fast to today Tuesday July 5th.
In the statement he claimed that the holiday has been adjusted to Wednesday and Thursday. And that was after workers have enjoyed the free public holiday today Tuesday.
