The news reaching the Newsroom of Arise News247 has it that the supporters of Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West and those believed to be supporters of Yahaya Bello, Kogi State Governor, were in gun battle at Lokoja today, June 12 2017. Not fewer than three people were reported killed.
According to an eye witness who spoke anonymously with Arise News247 Kogi State correspondent, Dino was to address his supporters at the Federal Polytechnic, Felele over the suspected plan by the Kogi State Governor to instigate Dino’s recall from the Senate by bribing people to sign his recall.
Thus, Dino arrived the gate of the State Polytechnic, at about 11.09am and was addressing his supporters when sporadic gunshots were heard from the NATACO axis, towards the ever busy end of the Okene-Abuja Expressway.
The supporters of Dino then responded with gunshots as he (Dino) was later spirited out of the area unhurt. Arise News247 further gathered that not fewer than three people were feared dead in the gun battle that lasted for more than an hour.
Though as at the time of filing the report normalcy has been restored to the capital city of the Confluence state.
Arise News247 notes that this is the second time an attempt would be made at shooting Dino Melaye in his home state, Kogi. The first attempt was in his home town.
