BUHARI AND OSINBAJO MEET CHRISTIANS AND MUSLIMS LEADERS PROMISED TO LOOK INTO LOPSIDED APPOINTMENTS

Arise News247 reports that President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo met with Muslim and Christian leaders separately. While Christians were represented by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) the Muslims were represented by the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), JIBWIS and other groups.

While receiving the delegations of CAN the president said, he had instructed that all the names of heads of parastatals be submitted to him immediately to enable him look into the allegations of lop-sided appointments.

In his word:

“On the question of one-sided appointments, we will look at it.

“I have given instructions that a list of all heads of parastatals be submitted to me and I know they will not delay in doing that,’’ he asserted.

The president also emphasized the importance “a good police force and judiciary”

“There is no way we can be comfortable in our country unless we are lucky to have a good police force and judiciary.

“We need a good police force and judiciary to really maintain the legitimacy and confidence of the populace in governance.’’

He further assured both CAN and JNI of the determination of his administration to ensure adherence to the rule of law in the fight against corruption, adding that the cooperation of all religious leaders are needed in the fight against corruption.

“When something becomes a culture, it is more difficult to stop, but collectively we will prevail,’’ he assured the leaders.

The Christian delegation was led by the President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Samson Ayokunle, while the Muslim delegation was led by the Secretary-General of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Dr. Khalid Aliyu.

Rev. Samson Ayokunle who responded on behalf of Christians highly commended President Buhari over his achievements in the fight against corruption, flushing out Boko Haram terrorists and the recovery of some of the kidnapped Chibok girls.

While The Secretary-General of Jamaat Nasir Islam, Dr. Khalid Aliyu, made an appeal to the President Buhari to listening more to the “yearnings of Nigerians and continually walk in the fear of God.”
