Arise News247 reports that N-Power volunteers in Kaduna stormed Kaduna Local Government Board on Monday, 17th December, 2018 to protest over the non-payment salary to the 2017 volunteers since they were engaged.

They expressed their sadness over the “lukewarm attitude of the Kaduna State government” that the N-Power national claimed also contributed to their plight.
Adding also that since they were engaged a year ago, majority of them have not received any salaries “apart from few of them that received only one month salary this November, 2018 as November salary, skipping the backlogs”.

Addressing Arise News247 Kaduna State correspondent on behalf of the protesters, Abubakar Aliyu, clarified that “they were engaged in November 2017, only to be confirmed in August 2018, which is 9 months after; and since then no salary has been paid to majority of them”.

Alleging further that some of them “who were close to the people in government were paid only for the month of November, skipping the backlogs and also leaving others helplessly.

“Before now, the youth were tagged ‘lazy’, but now we have been working and we have not been paid since August. Majority of us have family that depend on us, and instead of us to get money from the work we are doing, the reverse is the case, as many of us spend our money transporting ourselves to our point of duty, and no money was paid at the end of the month.”
He urged the Kaduna State government to consider their plight and help them out of their current situation as some of them have been borrowing to transport to their places of engagement. That this is a festive season and they also deserve to be made happy.”

Concluding, by asserting that their engagement in the N-Power scheme supposed to be a relief for them and not another burden.
