A group under the name LA Support Group paid a solidarity visit to Mr. Lawal Adamu Usman aka Mr. LA, in his NGO office on Sunday January 23, 2022 at about 3 pm to commend his philanthropic gesture.
Speaking on behalf of the group, one of the conveners, Mr Ovyeh Ishaya aka Mr Bond said in any society where we have a man like Mr LA that is deeply involved in community service without much noise, those who witness his philanthropic gesture to both the poor and the vulnerable in the society should from time to time commend his efforts and encourage him to keep on doing his good work, “if we look at our society today how many people, especially politicians really have the heart to assist the needy the way Mr. LA is using his resources to make the poor happy? They are very few, most of the politicians are so selfish that they only care about themselves and their immediate family. But Mr LA thinks about the needy, uses his resources to assist them and doesn’t even make noise about it. In deed he is a rare kind-hearted politician.
“However, we are ready to start projecting your (Mr. LA’s) service to humanity on the media so that people will know that there are still politicians of rare breed. And perhaps others may borrow leaf from that and also assist some of the poor people around them.
“In addition to that, since you contested in 2019 as Senator representing Kaduna Central, but was denied the position due to electoral manipulation, yet you still continue to award scholarships to children of the poor, giving palliatives to the hungry and buying learning materials for pupils/students of the less privileged; we have come to persuade you to contest for the same position again, as we are ready to give you massive support even across party lines because it’s people like you Nigerians need to hold public office.
Mr Bond gave a three-step strategy for the group as:
a) To fully support Mr LA in his political ambition and philanthropy
b) To sell his candidature on social media handles, places of worship and meetings.
c) To assist him in strategising, before, during and after the elections.
“And as God will help us, many loopholes will be effectively blocked during the coming election in 2023”, Bond concludes.
The Director of LA Foundation, Mr Toba Owojaiye, gave a highlight of few of the philanthropic services Mr. LA carried out through his foundation, but added that he hardly pass the information to the public “except when we want to inform the group of people that will get the assistance. But with this meeting and what we have heard today, we will do more to let the public know what is going on in LA Foundation”.
He further suggested that there must be women participation. Thus, “ladies like Sophie, Swanta, Patience and other social media influencers should be seen to be fully involved in Mr LA’s programmes.
Mss Sophie Umaru further buttressed the importance of women inclusiveness and the strength of some ladies like her on Social media encouraging the principal to exploit it to the maximum.
Mr. Lawal Adamu Usman aka Mr. LA, in his response expresed his gladness when he saw members of the group in his office. He added that when from a person’s kind heart he is supporting the needy he may not know that many people are observing, “but I want to assure you that this visit has spurred me to do more because it’s my joy to put smile on people’s faces.
Adding that human capacity development is his priority and promised to continue to do his best as God helps him.
